Infrastructure
The proliferation of web-based applications in the Performance Management and Business Intelligence domain and their business critical nature means you need to ensure a robust technical infrastructure is in place at all times, which is not always easy.
This is why M-Power (together with its partner Infratects) has created a unique range of specialist infrastructure services that will support your organisation no matter what your particular needs including, project management, installation and performance optimization.
Our services ensure you achieve the high level of reliability and performance required from your applications.
Rapid Deployment Kit (RDK)
M-Power with our partner Infratects has developed the Rapid Deployment Kit (RDK) to help organisations deal with common challenges like:
- Disaster Recovery Scenarios
- Temporary Development Environments
- Performance Testing
- Change in Service Providers
In each of these situations the RDK can be used to either take over the function of, or act as a temporary version of your existing or proposed Hyperion Production Environment.
What is the RDK?
The RDK is a set of rack-dense servers, installed in a portable, robust rack enclosure with the necessary components and configuration to make it a standalone environment (network switches, KVM, backup units, power distribution, UPS).
The servers are pre-installed with the necessary software and just need to be configured to match your exact requirements once in place on location.
Why deploy a RDK?
- Speed of implementation - the RDK can be deployed and working with 5 days
- Guaranteed quality - Infratects install and configure all components
- Try before you buy - the RDK allows you to get a good indication of what you will really need in terms of infrastructure before you order your production environment
- Flexibility - with a full self-contained environment, there is no need to implement any local software or affect any existing IT environments
How many users can a RDK support?
RDK's typically support up to 50 concurrent users. However, if required, an RDK can be produced to support up to 200 concurrent users on request.
Are there any restrictions with a RDK?
- Minimum rental period is 3 months
- The location where the RDK will be placed must be suitable (clean, ventilated with a reasonable power supply and network connection).
If any of these criteria make the RDK un-usable for you, then please take a look at the RRDK solution.
RRDK (Remote Rapid Deployment Kit)
If you like the idea of the RDK but only need a solution for a very limited time e.g. one month, or you can't provide an adequate location the RRDK is a perfect solution. It offers all the same benefits as the RDK but is hosted solution, located in a secure, internet backbone connected datacenter.
What is the difference between the RDK and the RRDK?
Aside from the fact that the RRDK is hosted, there are a few differences between the "normal" RDK and the RRDK;
- Sizing - The RRDK has been sized to be able to support concurrent usage of 20 users (rather than the 50 in the RDK).
- Access - The RRDK is accessible via a secure two-factor authentication based SSL-VPN. This means that the environment is secure, but it also means that connection to the client directory is not normally possible. Additionally, each RRDK is automatically equipped with a dedicated Terminal server to facilitate access to the environment.
- Design - The RRDK is more rigid in its design, in that while we will accommodate special requests, the default environment with core services will remain as-is.
- Price - The RRDK is cheaper.
- Speed of delivery - Assuming we have one available, an RRDK can be "delivered" within an hour of signing an agreement and assuming that we can get the tokens couriered to you in time.
