Using Web Analysis to query the Hyperion Planning Audit Log

Hyperion Planning creates an extremely good audit log recording every change made to the system. Many clients have not taken full advantage of this due to access difficulties. Web Analysis is traditionally used to create dashboards with Essbase as the source. However Web Analysis can also query relational sources such as the audit log. Simple sql statements can be issued that allow administrators (and users if desired) to easily create views which can:-

• Track Planning application usage including data changes made, ‘Copy Data’ POVs, business rule execution, individual user activity etc.
• Interrogate other relational source systems
• Produce exceptions reports e.g. between Essbase and source systems
• With a little extra effort, report on Financial Reports usage by user/date/time/report
• etc.
