Logging Which Users Run Which Reports - Financial Reporting

It’s critical to see which reports are being used and equally important to see which ones aren’t, allowing administrators to purge or archive reports that are not required.

Usage tracking for Hyperion Financial Reports can be set up by the administrator by following the steps below:

  1. On the BI+ server navigate to the BiPlus\lib folder
  2. Edit fr_repserver.properties and change the line:
    • log4j.rootLogger=ERROR,dest1
    • to:   log4j.rootLogger=INFO,dest1
  3. You may also want to increase the maximum size of the log file by changing this line: log4j.appender.dest1.MaxFileSize=512KB

You don't need to restart anything for the changes to work, and once they are complete you will see lines like this in the BiPlus\logs\FRReportSrv.log, showing which report was run and who ran it:

08-07 09:04:53 INFO  HRLogTimer  START: JobId: 25; User: /5076) Corporate Costs - Monthly; Name: jsmith

The log file also will contain a lot of other material which is not relevant to this particular feature.
