How to replace #missing with a true numerical zero rather than a text formatted zero
Essbase add-in users would be familiar with the concept of “missing” data. In the Essbase Options window (shown below) users can elect to select what character to show for missing data. Many users prefer to see a zero in order for any formulas written in excel to display. However the default behavior is to display as text which then means your excel formulas don’t work as you want them to.
The solutions is simple, enclose the zero in brackets as shown above in the Essbase Options Display tab. This is interpreted as a real zero in excel which will work with any formulae.
